New Windshield

Here it is! It's the 18 inch Cee Baileys shield. It mounts on in place of the stock short one. (Check out the stickers on the hand guards too. Those are black but reflected the light from the flash.) The last photo is a view from the cockpit. It is tall enough for me to duck behind it, even with the tank bag on. It is short enough that I can look over it without any effort. It isn't very wide but keeps the wind off my body.

  1. Hey allaina! Great site! Just curious how tall are you? I have a g650gs as well and am getting rid of the useless stock shield. Have been looking at the cee Bailey screens but have been reading mixed reviews. Thoughts??? Thanks!

  2. Hi Alli!
Thanks for checking out my site! And congrats on the G650GS! I absolutely LOVE mine!!

I don't have mixed reviews at all about the Cee Bailey windscreen. I am about 5'3" (with shoes on) and my inseam is about 29" or so. I can look over the top of the windscreen when I'm sitting on the bike but am not so tall that I can't scrunch down to duck below it. Either position is comfortable for me. I have no buffeting from the wind off the top of it. I haven't really ridden in lots of rain with it yet. But the times I have I don't recall having any issues. I think some rain does come off the top and onto my face shield but, it's raining so my head is already getting wet. I don't recall that being an issue.

My hubby put it on for me but I don't think there is any big deal with installation. There are specific torque specs to adhere to but it's not difficult to install. Mine was a birthday gift so he installed it because of that. And he's the wrencher in the family, which I don't mind at all. If he wants to do that stuff, I'm not going to argue. ;-)

I'm not sure what poor reviews might be about. I've had it on the bike for at least a year now and haven't had to adjust it or tighten it or anything. It doesn't rattle or anything. I can't think of anything that I dislike about it.

I did try out the BMW tall screen and it wasn't tall enough. The dealership let me test drive it on my bike and it was not a good fit for me at all. I had lots of wind coming over the top of that one right at my head. It was immediately unpleasant. Before I got the Cee Bailey, I sat on a friends 2007 F650GS, which is the lowered model like mine. He had one on his bike. I didn't ride it but just sitting on it I could tell the height was going to be right for me. He's also about my height and said he really liked it.

Also, I don't think it's so large that it acts like a sail on windy days. I've ridden in some very windy conditions with it and I didn't feel like I was going to take off or as though I was losing control of the bike. Well, not because of the windscreen anyway.

It worked very well on our first long road trip too, which wasn't terribly long but we rode every day of the trip.

So, yeah, I like it a lot. :-)

  3. Thanks so much for your thoughts :) I'm thinking this is the route I'll be taking, so hopefully it works well for me too :)
